About two years agoa ÀTTØØXXÁ and BaianaSystem conquered the main alternative festivals in Brazil being promoted by music critics as exponents of a new scene of renovation of Bahian music. What is hardly commented, however, is that the experimental tendencies of Pagodão did not come out of nowhere and are not so new. Already in 2006 Bahian superband combined explicitly Bahian Pagode with Techno and Drum’n’Bass. Mixing Afro, Rocj, electronic music and Pagode, Jotaerre brings up on his album “Choraviolla II” the roots of Pagodão.
