The singer, percussionist and composer Alessandra Leão from Pernambuco state living in São Paulo dives deep into Afro-brazilian religiosity in her new album “Macumbas e Catimbós”.
“It is a gift that I offer to the Orixás, guides and entities that work, dance, sing, prescribe, guide and heal. This record is a present to the forces that guide me,”she explains.
“Macumbas and Catimbós” also touches on issues such as a women’s place and religious intolerance.
